USED ENGINE FOR F1 CAR?

Question: 03/15/2016

What car maker did use used engine blocks to make their F1 cars engines.

Answer:

BMW used old blocks to that had done more than 75K miles. The idea was that all the stresses of the casting process would have been worn out. If an engine block would break, it would have done so already. The most powerful engine of all was the BMW M12/13, a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine fitted with KKK turbocharger and a Bosch digital electronic management system. It must have been around 1,400 horsepower; we don’t know for sure because the dyno didn’t go beyond 1,280 horsepower” at that time.
